In this course I will teach you how to use various Web 2.0 technologies such as social networks, blogs, wikis and other Web 2.0 services. The course will consist of projects, quizzes and  discussions. This is a project based course and will require several hours of your time each week. No programming involved. Web cam and microphone required.

  • Create a wiki
  • Discuss wiki services
  • Design a social network
  • Discuss social networking
  • Create tutorials
  • Collaborate using a wiki

  • Subscribe to RSS

Course content is located in the content folder. Course content will consist of readings, discussions and videos.


All unit items due by 11:59 pm on the following dates.

  • Unit 1 – June 24
  • Unit 2 – July 1
  • Unit 3 – July 8
  • Unit 4 – July 15
  • Unit 5 – July 22
  • Unit 6 – July 29
  • Unit 7 – August 5
  • Unit 8 – August 12


  • Eight project based assignments.
  • No late assignments will be accepted.
  • Assignment instructions are located in the Assignments area.


Only students who have an excused absence for missing an examination will be allowed to take a makeup. You must make arrangements for the makeup quiz with your instructor within ONE week following your return to class. If the instructor has not been contacted within TWO WEEKS following your return to class to arrange for a makeup, a grade of ZERO will be assigned for the missed quiz.

There will be 3 quizzes. Each consist of 25 multiple choice questions from the assignments, research terms and readings. You will have 25 minutes to complete the quiz.


  • Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life when writing emails or posting on the discussion board
  • Use the discussion board to ask class or assignment questions
  • I will respond to emails and discussion postings within 48 hours


I will grade projects within 1 week after the due date.


It is essential that you login often to participate in discussions and learning activities.


Students who take distance courses via Blackboard will need to be responsible to have the following capabilities and Software:

  • High Speed (Broadband) Internet access is desirable
  • Computer with at least 1 gigabyte memory
  • Word processor software (Compatible with Microsoft Word)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (
  • Web cam
  • Microphone or Web cam with built-in microphone
  • Additional software that is freely available on the Internet as required.


The university expects all students to engage in all academic pursuits in a manner that is above reproach.
“Cheating” includes:
1. Copying from another student’s paper, report, computer files, data listings, and/or programs.
2. Using (during an exam), materials not authorized by the faculty giving the exam.
3. Collaborating, without authorization, with another person during an examination or in preparing academic work.
4. Knowingly, and without authorization, using, buying, selling, stealing, transporting, soliciting, copying, or possessing in whole or part, the contents of an unadministered test. Substituting for another student; permitting any other person; or otherwise assisting any other person to substitute for oneself or for another student in the taking of an examination or the preparation of academic work to be submitted for academic credit.
5. Bribing another person to obtain an unadministered exam or information about an unadministered exam.
6. Purchasing, or otherwise acquiring and submitting as one’s own work any research paper or other writing assignment prepared by an individual or firm. This section does not apply to the typing of the rough and/or final versions of an assignment by a professional typist.

Plagiarism: The appropriation of another’s work or idea and the unacknowledged incorporation of that work or idea into one’s own work offered for credit.
Collusion: The unauthorized collaboration with another person in preparing work offered for credit.

A grade of 0 will be assigned for the assessment for the first violation and a grade of F will be assigned to the course for the second violation.


It is the student’s responsibility to make sure you are officially enrolled in this course. If at any point, you decide to drop the class, it is your responsibility to officially drop. Any student who stops attending class and does not officially drop the course will be given an “F” as the semester grade.
