Allows instructors to collect assignment files through a WordPress site.

The MLC Assignment Uploader was created to allow instructors to collect assignment files through a WordPress site. The instructor simply adds a WordPress shortcode to a page or post identifying the course section, course semester and assignment title.

mlc-assignment-uploader section=”COSC 3301-48F” semester=”Spring 2011″ assignment=”Unit 1 – Editing Digital Images”

The upload form only appears if the user is logged into the site. Files are uploaded to the mlc-assignments folder in the uploads folder of the WordPress site. Folders are automatically created for the semester, section, assignment and user.

Example folder structure:
—–uploaded file(s)

A confirmation email is sent to both the instructor and student when a file is successfully uploaded.

Files can be downloaded using your cPanel file manager (or whatever file manager your web host provides).

  1. Create a folder in the `/wp-content/plugins/` folder called ‘mlc-assignments-uploader’
  2. Upload and unzip the files to that folder
  3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  4. Place the shortcode in a posting or page. (See description)
Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I place more than one shortcode on an assignment page

A. If you have more than one section, create an upload page for each section and paste the shortcode there then create a link to that page from your assignment page.

Q. How do I view/download the uploaded assignments?

A. Use your file manager provided by your web host provider.

This is a screen shot of the upload form.
